BioQuotes Interaction

The Menus provide an easy way to interact with BioQuotes…

1) About BioQuotes in the BioQuotes menu shows the credits and the Copyright notice.

2) Preferences… in the BioQuotes menu (or Cmd-,) displays a preference panel.
This has options for how long the Tool Tips are displayed, if at all.

3) Quit BioQuotes in the BioQuotes menu (or Cmd-Q) quits the application.

4) Select Quote Topic from the File menu (or use Cmd-T) to find out which Topic, and Part,
the quote you are reading is in. This only applies to the last five parts.

5) Select Hide Lists from the File menu (or use Cmd-L) to hide any lists you popped up.
This is only useful during a session; the lists are hidden automatically when you Quit.

6) Select Author Index from the File menu (or use Cmd-I) to go to that card.
Select
Author Details from the File menu (or use Cmd-D) to go to that card.

7) Select Print Card from the File menu (or use Cmd-P) to print a quotation on its card.

8) Select Copy Quote from the Edit menu (or use Cmd-C) to copy a quotation and its author
to the clipboard. After pasting them in your document, reformatting may be necessary.

9) Select Find… from the Edit menu (or use Cmd-F) to search the quotes for a text string.
Select

Select
Get Next (or use Cmd-G) to continue your search.

NOTE: A Find Word… search will not find occurrences of the word with quotation marks
that begin, end or surround the word. A
Find… search will ignore quotation marks.

10) Select First Card (Cmd-1), Prev Card (Cmd-2), Next Card (Cmd-3), or Go Back (Cmd-4)
from the
View menu to perform these actions. Use your keyboard’s left or right arrow keys
to go to the previous or next card, if you prefer. Ignore the up and down arrow keys.

These Functions provide still more ways to interact with BioQuotes…

21) The Lists on the Title Cards of the first two parts let you choose a Word or Dichotomy
to see its quotation. Just click the buttons on the cards to pop up these lists.

22) The Topics covered in each of the last five parts are presented on that part’s Title Card.
Just click a Topic to go to the Topic Card that begins each one.

23) The Hypertext capabilities let you click any word or author that you find in the quotes
to determine where, or if, it appears again. If it appears again, it will be enclosed in a box.
Just repeatedly click inside the box to continue your search. If it does not appear again,
you will hear the sound of an error beep.

NOTE: Clicking a word will not find occurrences of the word that have quotation marks
that begin, end or surround the word. Clicking a word that has quotation marks
will
only find other occurrences that include the punctuation.
Also, the
Get Next menuitem does not apply to hypertext searches.
